Air Support in the Area of Hill 82

In his Post Op Analysis Major John Healy indicates that on the afternoon of 8 Nov 65 armed helicopters attacked the en position and artillery fire was directed onto the position and along the ridgeline. (See here.) CAS was used on the morning of 9 Nov 65. (See here.)

Accuracy of Reported Locations

Note that some of the artillery targets were registered from the air. In addition the Operations Officer dropped ammo into A Company on the afternoon of the 8 Nov 65 and also adjusted the artillery fire. The Fire Support Plan for 1 RAR on 9 Nov 65 gave targets to eight figures. This suggests that the locations of A Company was accurately known and reported.
